Blood written & directed by Shaina.

This work traces the deep fissures in the relationships between Black men and women to its onset in our formative years. Through movement, text, and song, Shaina sheds light on the early stages of misogynoir to show how that has lead to the normalized mistreatment of black women and the fractured communication in Black relationships that currently threatens Black love.

Blood sheds light on the origins of this intersectional oppression in childhood where the disproportionate amount of responsibility placed on Sister (Melissa Barrow) has fractured her relationship with Big Brother (Michael Tomlin III) and though she has the love and support of Little Brother (Nick Allen), the friction from the inequality remains present as the three must navigate their relationships amongst each other without parental guidance.
